About

Shrey Vats · India

I'm a developer from India focused on Rust, backend services, and Solana programs. I started programming because I wanted to understand how software works below high-level abstractions—how bytes are stored, how servers manage concurrent connections, and how on-chain programs validate state.

Most of my learning comes from building small, focused projects from scratch. Writing Rust and working with the Solana runtime forces me to think clearly about data ownership, account permissions, and failure cases before code ever runs.

Right now I'm exploring async Rust networking, Solana program architecture with Anchor and SPL tokens, and relational database design with PostgreSQL.

How I Work

What I focus on when learning and building software.

Building to understand

When I want to learn a standard like ERC-4626 or a protocol like WebSockets, I build a working implementation to see where the edge cases are.

Keeping state explicit

I prefer compile-time SQL checks and explicit account validation over hidden magic, so bugs surface early.

Reading source code

Studying open-source crates and Solana programs helps me write simpler, more idiomatic Rust.
